Best Australian Theme Parks

There is so much to do at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast, it’s an absolute must see for anyone heading that way. With attractions such as Tiger Island (where you can get a happy snap with a real tiger!), family rides, kid’s rides, scary rides, lots of shows and helicopter rides, you’ll need at least two days to even come close to seeing what’s on offer. Not to mention that the ever popular Big Brother is on between April and July and you can even meet the housemates at scheduled times on eviction Sundays.
If you’re looking for some of the scariest rides in Australia, then look no further. The Claw, Tower of Terror, Giant Drop, Cyclone, and the Wipeout are some of the tallest and fastest rides in the world, and they’ll definitely get your heart racing.
MOVIE WORLD - Gold Coast, QLD
Warner Bros Movie World on the Gold Coast is home to movie magic and Hollywood glitz and glamour. It has heaps of cool rides, with the latest addition being the super fast Superman ride. Plus you can meet some of your favourite stars! There are 760 metres of vertical climbs, weightless drops, twists and g-force turns so it’s definitely not one for the faint hearted. There are also many other rides, shows and lots of entertainment on offer, such as the Police Academy stunt show. There are lots of characters milling about ready for some photos. A must-see for movie buffs.
WET ‘N‘ WILD - Gold Coast, QLD
Australia’s largest water theme park Wet’N’wild has a fun selection of scary to mild water rides and attractions. You can go on group rides, two-person rides, speed slides, or lounge around in huge pools. In winter, all the pools and rides are heated, so you can check out the Whirlpool Hot Springs at a very nice 36 degrees Celsius. What a great way to relax your stresses away! And the best part about the winter season is that you can get cheaper air fares due to the off-season. However don’t be dismayed by the ‘winter’ season, as winter on the Gold Coast shouldn’t even be called so as you’ll be walking around in a singlet all day long!
SEA WORLD - Gold Coast, QLD
The main new attraction at Sea World has to be the riveting Shark Bay. Sea World is Australia’s premier marine environment, and if you like anything to do with the ocean, you’ll absolutely love it. The best thing about Sea World is that it educates its visitors about the fragile marine environment. There’s an awesome 4-D show called Planet SOS, which details the evolution of our world in a thrilling way. You can also snorkel or dive with the sharks, or watch the shark feeding frenzy show. LUNA PARK - Melbourne, VIC
There’s certainly a lot of history to this theme park, as it was first opened in 1912 and was an immediate success. Before that the land use to be host to a theme park called Dreamworld which failed after just three seasons, probably due to the high ticket price. It boasts many rides such as the Ghost Train, Metropolis, G Force, Shock Drop and the Red Baron. It’s definitely a fun day out in Melbourne and there are heaps of games to play as well as gear to buy.
LUNA PARK - Sydney, NSW
Entry to this Luna Park is free, so make sure you check out one of Sydney’s favourite icons. Soak up the fun atmosphere and the magnificent views or check out the rides and games. Be transported back to the 1930’s at Coney Island, sharpen your driving skills on the Dodgems, suss out The Big Top or just chill on the Ferris Wheel and make the most of the fantastic view. There are a number of rides for both young and old.
