Escape to Romance

There’s nothing better in a blossoming relationship than a romantic mini-break. When a recent Yes Dating poll revealed that 81% of you wanted nothing more than romantic weekend away for Valentine’s Day we just had to check out some of the best destinations right across Australia to ignite sparks in any relationship.
Margaret River, WA
Wineries, fine food, elegant accommodation and a stunning sunset on one of Australia’s best beaches…. What more could you want from a romantic holiday destination? Only a couple of hours drive south of Perth, Margaret River has romance written all over it, especially if you’re a lover of some of the best wine in the country. There’s also great cheese, chocolate, gourmet restaurants and so many scenic vineyards that you’ll never want to leave.
Mission Beach, QLD
If you’re daydreaming of a weekend away on a palm lined beach, where the sun rays kiss your face, and the dress code is minimal then Queensland’s Mission Beach is for you. But it’s not just the sunny beaches that will win you over, there’s also the stunning rainforest to explore and offshore Dunk Island for an irresistible day trip. For the ultimate in romance, visit Paronella Park because of the beautiful castle built in the 1930s that has the rainforest growing through it. This is definitely the place to get in touch with nature, while also getting in touch with each other.
Mount Warning, NSW
Adventure lovers will get more than just a romantic thrill out of this idyllic getaway. One of Australia’s hottest places to pop the big question but probably one of the more challenging, hikers flock to declare their love at the peak of this mountain and if you’ve ever witnessed the sunrise from the ultimate vantage point then you’ll understand why. In fact the summit is the first place that is kissed by the morning sun in Australia, making it super romantic and an experience you can treasure together for years to come.
Port Fairy, VIC
With postcard-perfect stone cottages lining the coast, Port Fairy has enough old world charm to up to romance factor to all sorts of gushy levels. If the old shops and buildings are getting tiring there are also some trendy up market cafes and restaurants to rest your feet at. For a quick day trip that will take your breath away, take a drive along Great Ocean Road for a peak at the magical Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge.
Lovers Beach, Lord Howe Island
With a name like Lovers Beach, how could you not swoon? This tiny beach is surrounded by dramatic peaks which makes it feel dramatically secluded. It’s turquoise waters and subtropical climate also make it perfect for swimming, hiking, or just lazy around on the golden sand. And if you like to snorkel, make sure you explore the coral reefs, which are the most southern ones in the world.
