Getting Back in the Game

Do the words Valentine’s Day fill you with dread and fear? Are you lamenting the fact that you spent another New Year’s Eve all alone? Well, it may be high time that you take a little hiatus from the single world and get back in the game of love. Sure it can be a daunting task but with a little help from RedHotPie, you’ll be paired up with a hottie in no time!

Get Out and About
There’s no chance of meeting someone new if your social life consists of sitting at home watching TV with your overweight cat. Peel yourself off the couch and get ready for a night out on the town. Make a point of accepting every invitation that comes your way – no matter how unusual, far fetched, or random. In fact, the more an event takes you out of your comfort zone and into a new group of people the better. Not only will you be making heaps of new acquaintances (and hopefully single and attractive acquaintances) you’ll also be having more fun than you have had in ages.

Cheer Up
A positive attitude goes a long way in the dating world, in fact, according to a recent RedHotPie survey, 76% of people said they found a positive personality more attractive than good looks or money and power. Approaching someone new when you’re in a negative frame of mind is definitely a bad idea – a poor attitude can be smelt a mile off and the scent is far from appealing. Everyone wants to be around the fun, happy go lucky girl or guy, not the brooding grump crying into his or her beer. So put a smile on your face, let your hair down, and just have fun – you’ll draw people to you faster than you ever have before.

Be Open to Approaches
No matter how much you may lament over the man drought or the Sheila shortage, the fact of the matter is that you have probably been approached or checked out by another singleton at least a couple of times in the past month. But so often, because you aren’t looking out for it, you miss all the signs and just assume that no one is interested. Trust me – they are. It’s a regular old meet market out there and you’re definitely not alone in wanting to be paired off. These approaches may not be as obvious as the stale pick lines of “Come here often?” or “Are you busy tonight at 3AM?”, but keep your eyes open for a lingering look or a flirtatious smile. All you have to do to move things along is reciprocate the favour.

Make a Move
Like any single person, you may have been on the bench for a while but it doesn’t mean you haven’t had your eye on someone during that time. Maybe it isn’t a full blown crush but there have no doubt been those moments where you’ve spotted a cutie at the local shopping centre or eyed off the attractive barista who makes your coffee every morning. If you want to get back in the game then you need to be willing to play the game – and part of that is making a move on someone.

Now getting straight out there and putting yourself on the line can be scary, but the more you practice the better you’ll get. Don’t miss the opportunity to strike up conversation with someone new – even if they aren’t your type, practicing your flirting skills with strangers will make you more confident when it comes to the real thing. Soon you’ll be strong enough to ask out that hottie you have had your heart set on – after all, what have you got to lose? You can’t be any more single than you already are, so give it a go!
