Miss Right is in Your Reach
While we men might like to give out the impression that we want to be with many women, most of us just want to settle down with the perfect lady. But you have to be in it to win it!
So what is it exactly that you’re looking for? It helps to have a good idea of what attributes or characteristics you value in a woman so you know what to rate. Just remember to stay open-minded when you are searching otherwise you may overlook the perfect candidate.
If you’re not having much luck in your search thus far, maybe it’s time to re-evaluate your perceptions about the ‘perfect woman’.
Who is this elusive woman?
It is always good to have some sort of plan when entering the dating battlefield. It can be an extremely difficult task, so it’s good to be prepared. If you are realistic in your expectations, you have more chance of finding Miss Right. Think carefully about what is very important to you and what kind of satisfaction you are searching for from the ideal woman.
Basically this means you have to know yourself and what you want before you can love anyone else. This may mean addressing any insecurities you may have and dealing with them. The ideal partner you are searching for will love you for who you are but you have to love yourself first, although the other egotistical extreme isn’t advisable either.
Obviously all men have different tastes and needs when it comes to relationships. For example, if you’re 35 and still living at home then your Miss Right needs to be okay with your likely dependence on her, not to mention to have understanding of your situation. These kinds of issues and needs are what you need to evaluate in regard to their importance to who you are and what you require from your woman.
What characteristics does she possess?
Which traits do you feel are most important? Is it loyalty, a caring nature or someone who’ll tend to your every need? Lifestyle and money choices are also important, and can easily be the death of a relationship. For instance, if you work 60 hours a week you need a woman who also works hard and understands your commitments. And if you are a saver and she is a wild spender then somewhere along the line your habits will collide.
Relax your definition of perfection
No-one is perfect, which means that you aren’t either! So having unrealistic expectations won’t help you in your search! Remember that scene in Good Will Hunting, where Robin Williams’ character tells Will (Matt Damon) that it’s not about whether a woman is perfect, but rather if a man and woman are perfect for each other? Heed this valuable advice.
So next time you are out on a date, think about what attributes you are impressed with, and value them in relation to some of her flaws. Of course there will be some things about your date you will choose not to tolerate, and likewise there will be things you will overlook, and still more that you will be delighted with.
Do you have similar dreams and hopes for the future?
Miss Right will be right for you if she has the capability to grow with you. This means adapting to each other over the years and developing your wisdom together. Time changes much and your relationship needs to be able to weather the storms of life. While the image you have in your mind of the perfect woman may do for now, you know that she won’t look that way forever. This is when her personality and nature will become everything so should be weighted accordingly.
Form your own opinion of Miss Right
While it is good to ask advice about your new girl from those close to you, remember that you are the one who will spend time with her; therefore it is important to form your own opinion of her as a person. Also, you will get to know her in a way that no-one else will, therefore only you will be able to gauge her character properly. You might see her in a different light. Looking for a woman that will be your mother is never a good idea. Although you may want to be taken care of, it’s also nice to be able and willing to take care of someone else as well. And just because she may get along superbly with your mum, doesn’t mean you should marry her!
If your parents are still together maybe you can ask them for some helpful advice on the good and bad times in their relationship and how they got through them together.
Get out there!
How are you supposed to meet anyone if you don’t go out, let alone the woman of your dreams? You need to be in sync with the dating scene if you want to hone your dating skills and get second dates.
There is nothing women love more than a confident man. They like a man who knows what he’s about and what he wants from life. If you appear unconfident, you will be putting yourself at a disadvantage from the word go.
It doesn’t matter how long you have been out of the dating scene, it’s never too late to get back into it! Remember you may not have the same perception about dating in your 40’s as you did in your 20’s. It won’t take you long to get back into the swing of things and you’ll be in top form in no time. Just think about the desired outcome, and don’t expect every date to be fantastic!
