The Dating Olympics

Well it’s been four years; yup, time’s just flown by but have been rocking in Beijing and every good patriot is on the edge of their seat screaming at the telly, but soon the dust will have cleared and the five rings will be hauled down for another four years. So we here at Yes Dating want to keep the Olympic spirit alive with a little advice for what we’re going to call the dating Olympics.
It’s all about the sport, not the medals; about the journey, not the destination. So let’s get into the swing with the dating Olympics, your guide to romance and fulfillment.
Training –
Where every serious campaign starts; without the training the performance just won’t be there on the day and if you’re not kicking goals you’re not winning, and we all want to be winner right?! So you’ve got to start small, approach that guy or girl you like, even just a passing smile at first. Then let’s work up to a “Hi, how’s it going”. These little drills will slowly break the ice and take the opposite sex of the pedestal we can so often put them on.
Research –
Ok, so you’ve done a few training drills and you’ve got the feel for the game, you’ve engaged the person you’ve had your eye on a few times and you’re confidence is building. Next let’s do a little research into the playing conditions. In passing try to get a little insight into their likes and dislikes; all information will no doubt come in handy later. So they’re mortally afraid of snakes, good to know, a day at the reptile park is out then; they like Christian Bale, seafood and Gold Class Cinema… you can see where this is heading right?
Heats –
Don’t pin all your hopes on one race… make sure you have a few heats to give you more than one chance at glory. Fixating romantically on one person increases your chances of disappointment if they reject you. Remember, love can bloom anywhere so play the field, don’t be afraid to approach new people when they take your eye. The more lines you have in the water the more fish you’re going to catch.
The Finals –
Make sure you bring you A-Game to the finals! So you’ve landed a date with a good-sort and you’re going for dinner and movie… Don’t do anything half-arsed here. From your breath to your outfit, make a little effort. Buy a dress or a suit, spend a little more on that fancy perfume or aftershave and be ready to engage. You’ve asked them out, get ready to ask a few questions and get to know this person. If they’re interested enough to give you their time, you’re half way there already, so relax and enjoy yourself.
Medals -
So there you go; some simple rules of competition to help you onto the podium. In keeping with the Olympic creed, look for love everywhere and strive for excellence always. With Yes Dating and these great Olympic tips on your side you just know love is around the corner.
And the winner is… you!
