Thinking outside the First Date Square

You really think a trip to the local Megaplex for cold popcorn and warm soft-drink is gonna land that cute piece of tail you’ve had your eye on? No way is that kinda thinking gonna hook the big sexy fish so you’re gonna have to start thinking outside the dating box.
That’s right friends, with our lives getting more and more manic by the second meeting people has never been harder, so, when you do comes across a new prospect you want to hit that first date out of the park and give things a real shot at success. Here’s our top five.
Pseudo Sports
Forget footy; cricket’s no good either, but don’t be afraid of a little friendly competition right off the bat. Why not try an evening trip to the local mini-golf circuit or perhaps a few frames down at the pool hall. These are fun activities that anyone can have a crack at and the conversation mixed with the competition can lead to some serious flirting!
Comedy Gold
First dates are renowned for the pressure they can create, that desperation of wanting to make the all important first impression a good one. Well instead of trying to impress that lovely bit of crumpet with your best anecdotes and pub trivia, why not let someone else warm the engine for you?
Hit your local comedy club and have someone else push your dates Serotonin buttons. The comedians may be getting the laughs but you’ll be getting the love.
Shop till ya drop
How about a little bit of home cooking. Pick your date up and hit the supermarkets. Have two or three dishes in mind and ask what kind of foods your new friend likes, usually one of your safety dishes will be a match and you can impress by suggesting you “whip it up”.
Wander around together buying the ingredients fresh, the time spent shopping is a great conversation opportunity and the fact you are both doing something means you’ll avoid those awkward silences you can get when sitting in a restaurant.
Don’t be afraid to recruit their talent in the kitchen either, incorporate them in the whole process and then enjoy the meal together… What a team you make!
Get Footloose
Probably more for the guys to impress the girls but in this day and age anything goes right? Tell your date to wear comfortable shoes and then hit the dance studios for a couple hours of expert tutorage and some serious physical flirtation.
Of course you have to be discerning and the kind of dance class you book you and your new friend in for. Salsa and the Latin schools would rate very highly where as Bootscooting 101 would rate quite poorly.
Cruise
There’s nothing like floating down the highway in a 1965 Mustang convertible with the wind in your hair and a very impressed passenger by your side… but who can afford a classic car like that? Not many of us… but luckily, there are good some good folk in the capitol cities that have had the foresight to open classic and luxury car hire companies.
So instead of picking your date up in your Excel for a trip to the local Indian joint, why not roll up in that chrome and leather monster that screams cool for a trip down the coast for coffees by the beach.
