Getting back in the game

Submit Comment
I'm just recently divorced and after 15 years of marriage I have no idea how to get back to dating game. To top everything off I'm little shy at first and it makes things really difficult for me to get into new relationship either casual or long term. Please help;)

It can feel like an insurmountable task to get back into the dating scene after a split up or a divorce but the truth is fortune favours the brave, so the first step to success is to take the first step! Simply say 'I'm doing this so I might as well get used to it'.

To be honest you are in an incredible position already. Only a few years ago you would have had to front up to sleazy bars to even get 10 seconds of face time with a member of the opposite sex. Now you can log on and get advice, chat and learn from thousands literally overnight.

Start to absorb yourself in websites like YES Dating where you get to see how others do it. Chat, flirt and see what's out there and what's new in the safety of your own home. You'll be surprised how little things have changed when it comes to boy meets girl.

Remember people join up to genuinely find other people. Not to give them a hard time or be difficult, so don't be shy in approaching online. Feel free to explain your situation and shyness. You may also be surprised how many have been through the exact same things as you. You may even find it's a plus to someone in a similar position who may feel you would better understand how they felt.

This is the absolutely beauty of RHP. You can gain 1000 lifetimes worth of dating experience in 6 months if you fully utilise all the fantastic features you have access to.

In addition, start to deliberately remember how it felt when you were confident. Perhaps when you first met your past partner. That part of you still exists, it's just been overwhelmed with your situation. So the more you remind yourself by consciously conjuring up the emotions and memories associated to a time when you were confident, the quicker you will master your fears and start living life to the full again.
